The vine started out small. We kinda liked how it was covering a fairly unattractive side patch of the garden, especially when it had some pretty white flowers. Then we liked the way it shaded the kitchen from the westerly sun.
And then we realised it was completely out of control. Triffid style!
So we got the ladder, got the snippers and got to work. We had completely underestimated it. Finger thick strands woven through chicken wire and under pipes and cables in a density that was surprising.
It took two hours to cut it back to the 2 mothership stalks. It is now conquered.
Man it felt good in the hot sun, attacking it and finally winning!
